Back to school

There was a BACK TO SCHOOL post way back a year ago, which is relevant again.

Subtlety is my middle name

Our delightful chums across the channel call it as it is. This little chap is holding some French doggie poo bags..

shit bags

Not much more needs saying.

DAWGS RAIDED!

Monday, a quiet day. We were just getting on with the quiet life when suddenly….SWAT!

Two Traffic Wardens, followed by two Police-peoples came storming through the front door.

Have you got a copy of that postcard in the window they demanded?

Postcard-cops

To which I says: “I want my lawyer”

Nah. Gave ‘em one, as they say at my fave Spanish bar The Inn Uendo.

Sausage Dogs in your ears

Yup, you heard right. Now, thanks to the miracle of something or other, you can get ear buds for your iPod/MP3 player in the shape of a Dachshund.

Dachshund earplugsOne question arises. Will you look a bit odd with a plastic dog’s bum coming out of an ear?

I said: “Where’s me dinner?”

Not fluent in Bark? Don’t speak a word of Yap, silent in Yelp? help is at hand: A translator of Barks. The dog has a thing that records and sends his barks to the human held translating device, and the bark is translated into one of six emotions, or some stock phrases like “I like to sharpen my teeth on Postmen”.

Only planned for sale in Japan, there are obvious translation problems: How do you translate from inscrutable Japanese Dogspeak into Newfoundland, or Yorkshire Terrier, let alone Bouvier de Flandres? And from there into Engrish?

And do we really want to know?

Psychiatric Service dogs

In the US they are training dogs to work with people who have psychiatric problems, like post traumatic stress symdrome and the like. The dogs make sure the human takes his medication, guards him from stressful situations, and gives them a cuddle when the human is already stressed out.

Article here.

As interesting, they are using prisoners to train the dogs, which has a good therapeutic effect on the prisoners too.

Double bubble good. Wish we could get it together here in the UK.

Job seeking success.

In the news today is a story of a teenager who wrote a report at his work experience job, all about how teenagers use the media. It’s newsworthy because he was working for Morgan Stanley, an international bunch of pirates bank of some repute.

There are two interesting things here:

  • He got the job because his Mum met someone when walking the dog, and they worked for Morgan Stanley. This is good.
  • Morgan Stanley didn’t already have this information from their very expensive research department. This is bad, and explains why pirates are better regarded than banks by some, and perhaps why we are in a spot of bother, bankwise.

With this in mind here is a pic of a revolutionary dog; Che Bouvier.

BTW: do you meet many investment bankers in your local park? Please let us know…:) But even if you don’t…keep walking them dawgs!

Postcards from the seaside

Using a seaside postcard theme we have dressed up Dawg’s window with a display for this weekends local festival. Last year we won best window….making sure we don’t win again I suppose. :)

New shocking worry! Chubby Vets.

Dawg-Fun

Did you know that dogs think 9 out of 10 American vets are fat? Especially older vets.
And that this puts a strain on the heart, and from there the rest of the body, which shortens the vet’s life?

NOT AN AMERICAN VET

Maybe we should all think about it, and do more exercise, which can only be good for us too!

(Editor’s note: Hash yoo bin drinkin’ Dawg?)
